Job Purpose
As a Material Controller, you will be responsible for receiving, stacking, picking, and dispatching loads while ensuring the safe transportation of materials and products. You will operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, and very narrow aisle machines (VNA).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-start and start-up inspections on material handling equipment.
- Report defects to the Shift Supervisor.
- Conduct visual quality checks on production, including printing, grade, and packaging.
- Scan each pallet before stacking and ensure correct materials are picked for customer orders.
- Conduct stock counts (cycle, half-year, and financial year).
- Load trucks safely and perform quality checks before dispatching.
- Maintain proper documentation for all deliveries and stock movements.
- Handle customer returns and accurately record product details.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by managing spillages and unsafe stacking.
- Follow all legal and safety requirements in warehouse operations.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and safety talks.
- Report unsafe conditions and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Education:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant driver’s and machine license (Forklift / Reach Truck / VNA)
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in material handling, warehouse, or logistics.
