Position Overview:
The Port Worker will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean working environment while ensuring efficient cargo operations in both MPT and DBT divisions. Reporting to the operations supervisor, this role is responsible for various operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning of operational equipment, including ship-to-shore cranes and crane cabins.
- Inspection and monitoring of containers and reefers.
- Handling rail wagons, including opening, closing, and twist-lock operations.
- Loading and off-loading cargo according to standard operating procedures.
- Hooking, unhooking, and tarping as needed.
- Ensuring operational areas, rail trucks, and offices are kept clean and safe.
- Completing necessary documentation such as accident reports.
- Assisting with rail wagon coupling and shunting in operational areas.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 / NQF 04 with a minimum of 6 months experience, or
- Grade 10 / NQF 02 with at least 2 years’ experience.
Key Competencies:
- Familiarity with terminal layout, safety protocols, and cargo stack positions.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
